February 28, 2023
Kathryn “Kathy” Kay Ager, the daughter of the late Adolph and Lyla Crawford, was born on Janury 11, 1944 and died on February 28, 2023.
Kathy was married to James “Pete” Ager of Long Prairie, on December 24, 1962. The young couple spent their first married years in Minneapolis, MN before moving to Long Prairie to work the family farm. Kathy remained on the farm after the passing of Pete for many years before transitioning to an apartment in St. Anthony for her final year of life.
Kathy held many jobs throughout her life in addition to farming and raising her family. She studied Medical Radiology but there was little that Kathy would not tackle and conquer. Her artistic creativity was displayed through her sewing, crafting, cake decorating, painting, bear sculptures and gardening. Her exceptional caregiving abilities were shown through her years of raising children, working at the nursing home, tending to farm animals and honoring her husband by being his primary caregiver so he could live out his final years at home.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her kids, ShayLynn (Robert Herbert) Ager, Russell Ager; granddaughter, Autumn Ager; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Geisinger, and Karen (Doug) Handeland; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Lyla Crawford; brothers, Donald, Robert “Bob” (Lois), Frances “Gene” (Paula), and Harold (Marcia) Crawford.
Memorial Services will be held in Long Prairie on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Peace United Church with internment at Evergreen Cemetery and a lunch to follow at the Ager family farm.
